Phonoplasty is a project that I developed after 2 months of researching and working exclusively with clay.

I understand typeface as visual representattion of phonetics, so I took that idea VERY literally and created my "type".

Inspired by ancient Mezopotamian clay tablets, the earliest form of writing, I used a 3D print of my face as a negative to create eight masks, each capturing the mouth’s shape during specific sounds found in English language.

Lastly I made that into a text-to-speech online - I coded my website and used the pictures of my masks for the “speech” part.
